Housing Facilities & Support

Command personnel provide administrative and maintenance support for the base’s bachelor housing and family housing, and provide off-base housing referral programs, as well as fire protection and emergency medical response. For government housing maintenance, call 639-5964. For information about family housing availability on-base or for off-base housing referrals, call the Housing Office at 639-5962, 0800 - 1630, weekdays.

Military Family Housing

The Housing Office, located in Bldg. 3600, is open Monday - Friday, 0800 - 1630, except holidays. Personnel may call the Housing Office at 639-5962 or DSN 567-5962 or 1-800-707-3614.

Currently, MCLB Albany has 30 sets of active duty officers’ quarters and 220 sets of active duty enlisted quarters. All quarters are heated and air conditioned and established in a residential community setting. Follow this link to see MCLB Family Housing's Tour of Homes.

All incoming military personnel must report to the Housing Office before making any off-base commitments.

Except for a few designated key and essential billet holders, all eligible personnel will be assigned to family housing on a voluntary basis.

All housing assignments are based on an equitable basis for qualified military personnel who are on active duty and permanently assigned to MCLB Albany or one of its tenant activities. The control date for determining when an individual becomes eligible for assignment to quarters will be based on the date of detachment from the previous permanent duty station as indicated on the advance application – DD Form 1746.

Inbound personnel should submit a DD Form 1746 and a copy of their orders as soon as possible. This will ensure timely processing and minimum delay in housing assignment once the personnel arrive in the Albany area.

Housing application forms are included in Welcome Aboard packages sent to inbound personnel. If the form is missing from the package, personnel may obtain the form from the nearest military housing office or they may call the MCLB Albany Housing Office to receive one in the mail, by fax, or one can be downloaded from our website. (Telephone number is 639-5962, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., weekdays.)

Housing Referral Program

Personnel who are not eligible for family housing or are awaiting assignment of quarters may obtain assistance in locating off-base quarters through the Housing Referral Service Office. The program is designed to assist service personnel in locating suitable, non-discriminatory off-base housing. All personnel reporting for duty at MCLB Albany must check in with the Housing Referral Service Office, whether or not assistance is requested.

Off-Base Housing

There is a good selection of rental property in the surrounding community. The rental rate for a typical 3 br house, with central heat and air conditioning, averages $700 - $1000 per month, plus utilities. One-year leases are usually required.

Apartments are one to three bedrooms, unfurnished, with six - to twelve-month leases, ranging from $350 - $600 per month, plus utilities.

Deposits begin at $150 and range up to a full month’s rent. Utility deposits are either not required or may be based on personal credit references; connection fees are reasonable.

Homes for sale average $120,000 for an 1,800 sq. ft., three-bedroom house with central heat and air.

The Housing Referral Office can assist personnel through personalized counseling and by providing information on military clauses, return of deposits, landlord-tenant mediation services, local community information and other areas of concern.

Transient Quarters

A limited number of transient family quarters are available to active duty and retired military personnel and their families. The transient family quarters are completely furnished three-bedroom homes. The furnishings include bed linens, towels, pots, pans, coffee makers, washers, dryers, clock radios and dinnerware. The units may be rented on a daily basis.

Transient quarters are also available for officers and staff noncommissioned officers in a temporary additional duty status. Housekeeping services are provided Monday through Friday, except holidays.
